Why Is Semiconductor Optical Amplifier So Famous

Optical Amplifier is an important technology for optical communication System. As we know, there are several types of optical amplifiers, among them, the main amplifier technologies are doped fiber amplifiers, Semiconductor optical amplifier, Fiber Raman Amplifier. Now we are going to study about the Semiconductor Optical Amplifier.

Inphenix Design founding team started in 2003 driven by a passion to develop integrated optics. Inphenix design and manufactures all types of products like Superluminescent diodes, Swept Light Source, Semiconductor Optical Amplifiers, Broadband Light Source, Driver board, and many other products. Inphenix all this at its 100,000 square foot facility in beautiful Livermore, California. Inphenix having complete vertical control over the entire design and manufacturing process which allows Inphenix to drive innovation, maintain high quality and minimize costs.
Inphenix also offers medical, dental, and vision plans for employees and their family with the company paid a contribution toward monthly premium costs. For saving future, They also offer a traditional pre-tax 401K plan for retirement saving. “http://www.inphenix.com/en/” Visit this site for the more information about the Inphenix designer and its services and products.

A Semiconductor Optical Amplifier (SOA), which is essentially a laser diode with no feedback from its input and output ports and hence it is also referred to as a Travelling Wave Amplifier (TWA). SOA is a combination of Five Parameters which can be used to represent Gain, Gain Bandwidth, Saturation output power, Noise Figure, and Polarization Dependent Gain (PDG).

Gain: SOA should have the highest gain appropriate to the application. Gain is the factor by which the input signal is amplified and measured as the ratio of output power to input power.

Gain Bandwidth: It defines the range of bandwidth where the amplification function. A wide gain bandwidth is desirable to an amplify a wide range of signal wavelength.

Saturation output power: It is the maximum output power obtainable after amplification beyond which no amplification is reached.

Noise: Noise defines the undesired signal within the signal bandwidth which arises due to physical processing in the amplifier.

Semiconductor Amplifier is the economic, high-performance solution for long-haul WDM networks. SOA is one type of optical amplifier which uses a semiconductor to provide the gain medium. It has a similar structure to Fabry-Perot laser diodes. SOA is self-contained and unified in a presentation. Semiconductor optical amplifier available in 1310nm, 1400nm, 1500nm, and 1600nm wavelength, which can be used with single mode or polarization maintaining fiber input/output. For its unique features, Which can be used in various types of Booster and In-line Amplification, an optical network, general purpose test, and measurement.  For more details and information, please feel free to contact us.
